Auto Moderation

Auto Moderation helps us catch common problems without waiting for a moderator to step in. You choose which checks to use and how strict they should be.

Open Security → Auto Moderation in your server dashboard.

Word filters

  1. Enable word filtering.
  2. Choose whether to use the preset list and add any words you need for your own server.
  3. Check the exceptions and other options shown for the filter.
  4. Save your changes and test with an account the rule applies to.

Think about how a word might appear in normal conversation before adding it. A filter that's too broad can catch messages you didn't mean to block.

Anti-spam and mentions

Enable caps and burst checks to help with repeated or excessive messages. Adjust the burst limit to suit how busy your server is.

You can also enable mass mention checks and choose a mention limit. Start with a limit that won't catch ordinary conversations, then adjust it if you need to.

Turn on Discord invite checks or URL/domain checks, then choose the policy and lists you'd like to use. Pay attention to whether your selected policy allows listed entries or blocks them; those do very different things.

There's also an option to block plain HTTP links. Check your community's usual links before enabling it.

Join protection

Choose a minimum account age and the action to take when a new member doesn't meet it. This can help with newly created accounts, but it can also affect genuine new Discord users. Let your team know how you'd like them to handle those cases.

Honeypot

A honeypot is a trap channel where posting triggers the action you've selected. Choose a dedicated channel, the response action and an audit reason, then save.

Make it clear that members shouldn't post there. Don't use a normal conversation channel as a honeypot, and check your selected action carefully before enabling it.

Test your setup

Blob needs permission to carry out the action you've chosen, such as Manage Messages for message deletion. Test a rule with a non-exempt account and check your audit logs afterwards.

If a rule catches the wrong messages, disable that check while you adjust it. You don't need to turn off every other protection too.
